The Barbado da Terceira is an ancient cattle herding and droving breed originating from Terceira Island in the Azores, Portugal, where it was developed to work livestock in rugged volcanic terrain. Recognized by the AKC in 2022, this medium-sized dog is distinguished by its profuse beard and mustache, which give the breed its name.
