The Biewer Terrier originated in Germany in 1984 when breeders Werner and Gertrud Biewer produced a piebald Yorkshire Terrier puppy through a recessive gene, and the breed was subsequently developed as a distinct toy breed. Characterized by its striking tricolor coat of blue, white, and gold, this elegant yet playful little dog carries itself with an air of self-importance typical of terrier heritage. The Biewer is devoted and lively, enjoying play and companionship in equal measure, and was officially recognized by the AKC in 2021.
