The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is one of the oldest herding breeds in the British Isles, believed to have been brought to Wales by Celtic tribes over 3,000 years ago, and is distinguished from the Pembroke Welsh Corgi by its longer body, rounded ears, and long fox-like tail. Bred to drive cattle by nipping at their heels and darting away, the Cardigan is an athletic, versatile working dog with a keen, intelligent mind and a devoted, even-tempered personality. Their low-set, sturdy frames and double coats make them well-suited for demanding outdoor conditions, while their loyalty and trainability make them excellent family companions.
