The Cesky Terrier, also known as the Bohemian Terrier, is a relatively modern breed developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1940s by geneticist František Horák, who crossed the Sealyham Terrier with the Scottish Terrier to create a dog better suited for hunting in the forests of Bohemia. Unlike most terriers, the Cesky is known for its comparatively calm and trainable disposition, making it more manageable as a family companion while retaining its tenacious hunting instincts. It is distinguished by its silky, wavy gray-blue or light coffee coat, which is clipped rather than hand-stripped, and its distinctive long head with a natural fall of hair over the face.
