Cirneco dell Etna

The Cirneco dell'Etna is a slender, elegant sighthound native to Sicily, Italy, where it has hunted small game—particularly rabbits—across the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna for over 2,500 years. Remarkably hardy and capable of working long hours without food or water, the breed combines a gentle and affectionate home temperament with a swift, independent hunting instinct in the field. Its fine, short coat, erect ears, and lean athletic build reflect centuries of natural selection in the demanding Sicilian terrain.
