The Norwegian Lundehund is an ancient Spitz-type breed originating from remote Norwegian islands, where it was used to hunt puffins from cliff crevices and narrow burrows. It possesses extraordinary anatomical traits unique among dogs, including six fully functional toes on each foot, exceptional joint flexibility, and the ability to tilt its head backward to touch its spine — adaptations that aided in navigating treacherous rocky terrain. An alert and loyal breed, the Lundehund is nonetheless independent and can be a training challenge, and it is prone to a unique digestive syndrome that requires careful dietary management.
