The Norwich Terrier is one of the smallest terriers, originating in East Anglia, England, in the late 19th century as a ratter and companion dog favored by Cambridge University students. It shares its history with the Norfolk Terrier and was considered the same breed until 1964, when the two were separated by ear type — the Norwich sports erect, pointed ears. Compact yet sturdy, it has a lovable, outgoing temperament combined with the characteristic terrier boldness and determination.
