The favored breed of Queen Elizabeth II, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a low-set, sturdy herding dog originally bred in Pembrokeshire, Wales, to drive cattle by nipping at their heels. Despite standing only about a foot tall, they are bold, athletic, and surprisingly quick, with a strong herding instinct and an outgoing personality that makes them excellent family companions. Their fox-like face, large upright ears, and naturally bobbed tail give them a distinctive, endearing appearance that belies their tough working heritage.
