The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, known in Poland as the Polski Owczarek Nizinny (PON), is an ancient herding breed that served as both a drover and watchdog on the lowland plains of Poland for centuries, and is believed to have contributed to the development of the Bearded Collie. Agile, hardworking, and highly intelligent, the breed possesses a remarkable memory and a self-reliant nature that allowed it to make independent decisions while working livestock. Its shaggy, thick double coat covers its eyes and gives it a distinctive, endearing appearance, while its lively and perceptive character makes it a devoted but sometimes headstrong companion.
