A sleek, elegant sighthound often described as a 'miniature Greyhound,' the Whippet was developed in Victorian England by working-class dog enthusiasts for rabbit coursing and later became a popular racing and companion breed. They are gentle, quiet, and deeply affectionate at home, capable of reaching speeds up to 35 mph in short bursts but content to spend most of their time curled up on the softest surface available.
